Senior Project Engineer / Carbon Consultant (100%)
Salary / Compensation:
CHF 60,000 - CHF 85,000 (depending on experience).
Location:
Remote – with occasional meetups in Zurich.
Your Responsibilities
Lead End-to-End Projects: Manage decarbonisation projects for clients in agriculture, food production, and agri-processing sectors.
Carbon Footprinting: Perform full Scope 1–3 GHG emissions inventories, including soil emissions, livestock emissions, energy use, and transport.
Land-Use Modelling: Quantify carbon sequestration potentials from agroforestry, organic transition, and cover cropping.
Client Workshops: Facilitate on-farm consultations and stakeholder workshops to align sustainability goals with practical realities.
Strategic Roadmaps: Develop tailored decarbonisation pathways covering renewable energy integration, precision agriculture, and low-emissions logistics.
Support Climate Certifications: Help clients achieve labels like Swiss Climate Label for Agriculture, Bio Suisse Climate+, or EcoFarm certification.
Mentor Juniors: Coach junior consultants and interns working on agricultural carbon data or policy research.
What You’ll Bring
Experience: 3+ years in carbon consulting, agri-environmental engineering, sustainable food systems, or related roles.
Education: Degree in Environmental Science, Agricultural Engineering, or Sustainability.
Tools: Proficient in Excel, carbon accounting platforms (e.g. Cool Farm Tool, Agrecalc), and GIS tools (e.g. QGIS).
Communication: Able to clearly explain technical findings to farmers, cooperatives, and policy stakeholders.
Languages: Fluent English; German and/or French highly desirable.
Swiss or EU work permit preferred.
Qualifications
A higher degree and 3+ years of professional experience in a relevant field.
